To reach the conclusion, Imperva analysed around 32 million passwords that had been exposed in a recent hack of the RockYou website.

More than 60 medical residents must be placed in new
programs because of the closing of Physicians Medical Center
Carraway, according to records.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education,
which oversees the nation's medical residency programs,
reported on its Internet site that Carraway had 14 residents
in family medicine, 21 in internal medicine, 19 in surgery
and eight in their transitional year.

HIV Outbreak Began Decades Earlier Than Thought

The most pervasive global strain of HIV began spreading in humans around 1900 in sub-Saharan Africa, a new study claims.

The research, which is published in the current issue ofNature, found that HIV began spreading between 1884 and 1924, around the same time urban centers in west central Africa were established. This estimated time of origin is decades earlier than the previous estimate of 1930.

The researchers worked with a 1960 sample of HIV gene fragments from a wax-embedded lymph-node tissue biopsy from a woman in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This 1960 virus is the second-oldest known HIV-1 group M genetic sequence, with the oldest being a 1959 blood sample from a man also from Kinshasa.

Previous studies have shown that HIV spread from chimpanzees to humans in southeastern Cameroon.

Only 2 percent of graduating medical students say they plan to work in primary care internal medicine, raising worries about a looming shortage of the first-stop doctors who used to be the backbone of the American medical system.

Just 2 percent of nearly 1,200 fourth-year students surveyed planned to work in primary care internal medicine, according to results published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. In a similar survey in 1990, the figure was 9 percent.

Family medicine had the lowest average salary last year, $186,000, and the lowest share of residency slots filled by U.S. students, 42 percent. Orthopedic surgery paid $436,000, and 94 percent of residency slots were filled by U.S students.

"Primary care is holding steady but only because of international medical school graduates,"

as American students lose interest, teaching hospitals will probably become less interested in offering primary care programs

Americans are more likely to see categories. Asians are more likely to see relationships.

You can create a global continuum with the most individualistic societies — like the United States or Britain — on one end, and the most collectivist societies — like China or Japan — on the other.

The individualistic countries tend to put rights and privacy first

Either way, individualistic societies have tended to do better economically.

But what happens if collectivist societies snap out of their economic stagnation?

A new sort of global conversation develops.

The rise of China isn’t only an economic event. It’s a cultural one. The ideal of a harmonious collective may turn out to be as attractive as the ideal of the American Dream.

It’s certainly a useful ideology for aspiring autocrats.
